In preparation for a leadership transition, Wiley is seeking a full-time youth pastor who is spiritually mature, gifted, and equipped to systematically teach God’s Word.
Church Information
Wiley Union Church is a non-denominational church with a loving and supportive congregation of 100-130 people. The church is located in Wiley City, a small, unincorporated community in the Yakima Valley of Central Washington. It has been ministering to this small community and overall Yakima area since its re-establishment in 1984. Since then, it has been led faithfully by a loving senior pastor, Pastor Terry Dinsmore. Throughout its time it has had a small number of youth pastors, the most recent has been on staff since 2011.

General Job Description
The youth pastor is accountable to the Board of Elders and must work with pastoral staff in reaching and discipling the youth. He shall fit the biblical requirements for a pastor and be able to provide pulpit supply when needed. He will also be an ex-officio member of the Board of Elders.
The youth pastor is primarily and directly responsible for teaching, shepherding, and discipling those in grades 7-12 within the congregation. He is to plan and maintain a weekly youth meeting focused on systematically developing the spiritual lives of youth through the teaching of God’s Word. Additional events, outings, camps, retreats, and other youth activities are to be planned for the development of camaraderie and fellowship amongst youth.
Secondarily, the youth pastor is to oversee and administrate the various departments of Wiley’s ministry to children and youth through the high school grade level. This includes overseeing Children’s Sunday School, Children’s Church, an annual Vacation Bible School, leading and supporting those in leadership over each department, and serving as the Awana Ministry Director.
Lastly, the youth pastor is to provide pulpit supply and pastoral care for the adults in the congregation in the pastor’s absence.

General Youth Pastor Expectations
It is expected that the youth pastor fulfill the necessary time weekly to warrant a full-time status (40 hours). He is expected to fulfill his duties under the leading of the Holy Spirit and maintain his own relationship and fellowship with God. He is expected to maintain a consistent office presence and communicate proactively with the church secretary and other pastoral staff concerning youth activity and his personal schedule. He is expected to support and attend church worship services and church-wide activities.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate for Wiley must be in line with the qualifications of an elder in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He must be in full agreement with Wiley’s Doctrinal Statement and have the gifting and ability to teach and preach the Word of God. He must be a married man who has a visible relationship with God who is able to lead, exhort, and discipline biblically. The youth pastor must be able to effectively and accurately communicate God’s Word as well as humbly and lovingly work with others on staff and within the congregation. A candidate with ministry experience and Bible school training is preferred.
